Waiting, not so patiently
I have not received my pre-ordered copy of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince from Amazon.
I cannot really blame Amazon or Canada Post for this state of affairs, I can only blame myself. I am the proud owner of the first 5 HPs; all in the American editions. I love those editions; they feel more plush to me than the Canadian versions, all filled with lovely illustrations, fancy headings and rich ivory pages. So when I pre-ordered (months ago!), I ordered from Amazon.com, instead of Amazon.ca.
I knew that I wouldn't get it on release day. They even emailed me last week to tell me that as an out-of-US order in a country that doesn't have Saturday delivery (yes, it's true. Canada, that most progressive of countries, doesn't deliver mail on Saturday. Sure, they let gay people get married...but the important stuff? Pffft!!) they wouldn't be able to meet the release day delivery schedule.
Once again, I am pretty much okay with that. It's the sacrifice I make in order to keep my HP collection looking all--um, the same. Then I find out that Canada Post is making special Saturday deliveries for those who ordered HPATHBP on Amazon.ca.
I am pissed.
And still waiting.

Well, I was kinda hating you a little -- getting to go to Switzerland and all when a visit to some crappy theme park in San Jose is probably going to be the highlight of MY summer vacation!
But I feel better now because I've had my copy of Harry Potter for three whole days now! So far, I've snuck it out of it's hiding place twice to sniff the wonderful new-book smell, but I must wait to read it until my project is done (only a few more days to go.) It's in a hiding place because I don't want Boo to get his hands on it before I do! Part of being the grown-up is I told him I get to read it first! God, I love that part about being a mom....
I have a similar tale of woe, except substitute 'British version' for 'US version' - because it's got all the proper words in it! Mine won't be here until Friday (estimated), and I'm sure you'll have yours by then. Then, a week later, I'm going to turn around and get on a plane to England, probably with it in my luggage.
Yeah, doh.
Wow! They did special Saturday delivery for HP books? That is so crazy!
I hope it comes for you soon. If it's an consolation, I've read it, but I can't even talk about it because my husband hasn't even started yet.
I'd be just the same.
But my collection is slightly mismatched anyway- 1 and 2 are kids' versions, paperbacks. 3 is adult paperback. 4, 5, and 6 are kids hardback.
3 is slightly incongruous, but it was only 99p, and the first one I ever bought.
Callie
